Your Ignorance
It has always been so easy
To love you fully
That it terrifies me.
It’s the one thing
I’ve ever been best
At doing.
What I would give
Just to hold you
This once,
This burning moment.
The question has ceased to be
“How do I love”
And has become
“How do I stop?”
I’ve loved you hopelessly
Purposefully, unconditionally.
And how ignorant you’ve been.
I’m the bullet train carrying you
But somehow you removed the tracks.
I gave myself to you in a cassette
But you sold the tape recorder.
And because you bled;
I become the stapler
Whose pins you threw away
But you’re still bleeding
So I make pins of my skin
And hold you together.
I’ve been the sun
To you, my Moon.
Lighting you up
With my own life force.
And so you shine
In your darkest hour
Because you were Sun-kissed
During the fleeting dusk
And your longing lips
Wore my shine
Through the sunless night.
